FAQ

• I don't trust this page, why should I?
  Well for one, the page will use your current location in EVE to calculate distances, every time you open it. Also, if you trust it, you will be logged in to the page automatically if you've created an account. This will allow you to save and load queries. Trusting the page allows it to get information like your current location, corporation you're part of, etc. I can only promise that I'm not using that information for anything else but this page.
• When I try to find all systems, I only see 4414 of them, but I'm sure there's at least 5334?
  This is due to the fact that the EVE Explorer will only show systems that it has calculated a distance to. Since those missing systems are unreachable, they don't show up. If you do want to search them, set the explorer to calculate distances from a system in the same cluster.
• Your page is slow, I'm sure you're a terrible programmer.
  Well, I agree on the slow bit. But about half of the time your waiting is due to the IGB taking it's time to render the page. An "all systems" query takes me about 3.5 seconds to run on a local server, about 14 seconds to run from my internet server (eve.grismar.net) and takes the IGB a little more than 26 seconds to display. However, the page -is- mainly intended for IGB use, so I hope you can live with it for now. Perhaps the IGB will get a bit faster, perhaps I'll figure out a way to make the page load faster.
  I'm currently experimenting with less tables, I hope that'll take some time off the loads...
• Why can't I open a details page for the agents, systems and stations like I used to?
  The old Agent Explorer had pages with all kinds of details on the things you could find. But due to improvements in the lists on the EVE Explorer and the addition of showinfo links, there's hardly anything that the details page could tell you that a list won't. I will probably be adding more lists and linking to new lists from list results, but unless someone tells me a good reason, details pages are out.
• Howcome I can't sort column X?
  Either sorting that column made no sense to me (like the 'services' and 'with functions' columns) or you probably can sort them. Did you try clicking the icon at the top of the column? Also, show a little patience. A list sorted in one way may be a bit slower than that same list sorted in another. If you click the link again before the page loads, there's no telling where the IGB will take you.
• I got a security hit in a system reported as 0.0 on your site, what gives?
  Look at the true security. EVE security is a rounded number, so for instance Karan has a security of 0.0, but a true security of 0.0447. This means its security is above 0 and you -will- get a security hit, even though it looks like 0.0.
• My game is lagging because of your site! Or no, it's the other way around! Can this be?
  No, at least not lag in the sense of network lag. Your IGB is getting my page from my server directly, just like Firefox or Internet Explorer would. However, the IGB blocks most the interface of your client from doing anything. You're likely to just sit and wait for a page to load before the game will allow you to do anything else. The network load of the EVE Explorer is very low and if you're experiencing lag, it's likely due to other causes.
• What are those 'lt', 'gt' and 'eq' labels?
  The IGB currently has a bug that makes it impossible to use the < (less than) and > symbols in drop-down boxes. So, when you run a query with something like "<=0.4", it will turn out as "lt or eq" "0.4" on the resulting page. Ofcourse, this only applies to numerical fields like security or standing.
• Your site is pretty complicated, can you give me some examples?
