AboutWikis

A wiki is a special kind of website. There's an excellent definition of Wiki'sleaving this site on one of the most famous wiki's, the WikiPedialeaving this site. A wiki (say "wicky" or "weeky") is a website you can contribute pages to yourself. Some wiki's are open to all visitors, others (like this one) require you to register to be able to add content.

The actual software that runs a wiki is a WikiEngineleaving this site and this particular wiki is based on WikkaWikileaving this site. To make it compatible with the IngameBrowser, the stylesheet has been replaced with a simpler one and some code has been added to enable the wiki to detect the IngameBrowser.

WikkaWakkaIGB describes in details how to get a Wikka Wakka Wiki to work with the IGB.

You'll have noticed how words spelled with extra capitals all link somewhere, like AboutWikis and IngameBrowser. A word like that is called a WikiNameleaving this site and is special in wiki's. If WikiNamesleaving this site are used in a wiki article, clicking the word will either lead you to the page for that WikiName or show you a form where you can start writing that page, if you're a registered user.

Going somewhere? image

Some links have a image symbol next to them. This means the page will lead you off the current website, possibly to another wiki, possibly to something worse. I'd recommend not following these links in the IngameBrowser, unless the writer of the article mentions that it is compatible with the IngameBrowser.

Work in progress

Although, essentially, pages on a wiki are never finished, some pages really need a lot of work or haven't even been started yet. You'll notice that some pages will have their names underlined and if you hover the mouse over them, they will light up in red. Feel free to click such a link and start writing the page, if you're a registered user, but please read the WritingPages article first.

You can also edit a page if you're a registered user and you see something wrong with it. Again, please read the WritingPages article first, but after that, feel free to make corrections.

Finally, if you don't want to edit an article, but you do have something to say about it, please post a comment. Hopefully, some writer will pick up the comment and change the page for you.
