Most recent edit on 2006-09-12 19:06:15 by KloroDraz [updated to reflect current drone situation, broke out some of the combat drone material]

Additions:
This skill allows you to control standard Scout Drones, Heavy Drones and Mining Drones up to a maximum of 5 controlled Drones.
  • While Gallente ships are known for their drone carriers, most combat ships have a drone bay and all battleships have at least 75m3 (enough for 5 small and 5 medium drones) drone bays. If you intend to use Combat Drones then training Drones to level V should be a priority. In any situation having more drones is always better than less
  • Training Scout Drone Operation allows the use of the use of medium and light drones, and increases drone control range by 5000 m per level. Later, Electronic Warfare Drone Interfacing increases the range by 3000m per level.
  • Drone Interfacing originally allowed the use of more than five drones. However, due to lag concerns, this was changed. It now increases drone damage and mining yeild by 20% per level.
  • Most mining ships have drones bays. Mining Drone Operation allows the use of Mining Drones .
Current EVE version: 2.13.4561 (Dragon)

Deletions:
This skill allows you to control standard Scout Drones, Heavy Drones and Mining Drones up to a maximum of 5 controlled Drones. You can increase this amount further by training Drone Interfacing.
To control Tech Level II drones you will need the drone specialization skills Amarr Drone Specialization, Caldari Drone Specialization, Gallente Drone Specialization & Minmatar Drone Specialization.
  • If you intend to use drones for combat then training Drones to level V should be a priority. In any situation having more drones is always better than less, so while you should spend a little time training Scout Drone Operation to increase drone range and Heavy Drone Operation to increase drone damage, it's worth concentrating on training Drones to level V so you can begin training Drone Interfacing.
  • For information about Mining Drones please read MiningDroneOperation.
  • Gallente ships specialize in drone control and many have a bonus to the amount of drones you can control. The Gallente Battleship, Dominix, is a good example of this with the ability to control 15 drones when you have trained Drones, Drone Interfacing and Gallente Battleship to level V.

Additions:
- For information about Mining Drones please read MiningDroneOperation.

Deletions:
- If you want to use Mining Drones then don't get too excited about them, they're very easily destroyed by NPC pirates and a lot of players find them too much effort for too little reward. Apart from the expensive Harvester Mining Drone the yield from mining drones is so low that you're better off spending your time training to get a bigger ship with more mining lasers. Having said that, when you're mining as much as you can with mining-lasers and you want to get even more then Harvesters are the way to go, if you can keep them out of trouble!

More drones is always better than less so you should concentrate on training Drones to at least level 5 before training the remaining drone skills to a high level.
