Skill: Procurement (Trade)
Rank 3 - Primary Attribute: Charisma - Secondary Attribute: Memory
Proficiency at placing remote buy orders on the market. Level 1 allows for the placement of orders within the same solar system, Level 2 extends that range to systems within 5 jumps, and each subsequent level then doubles it. Level 5 allows for placement of remote buy orders anywhere within current region.
Note: placing buy orders and directly buying an item are not the same thing. Direct remote purchase requires no skill.
Primary Skill required
Procurement allows a player to place market buy orders remotely. At level I, orders can be placed at stations within the same solar system. At levels II, III and IV, the range increases to 5, 10 and 20 jumps. At level V, remote buy orders can be placed throughout the region.
Available at schools in Empire space. Cost: 1,500,000 ISK.
There is a difference between buying an item remotely and placing a remote buy order. Any player can buy an item on sale at a distant station using the market window. Procurement allows a player to set up a buy order, choosing the price at which the items will be bought and the number of items required.
When setting up a normal buy order, a player can choose the range over which it is effective; items can be bought in station, over a few jumps, or throughout the region. Without training the Visibility
skill, remote buy orders have a range (the remote bid range) that is limited to the station in which the order is placed.
When using procurement, you can only
create buy orders for items that are already on sale at the station
at which you are setting up the remote order. This differs from local buy orders, which can be set up for any item. Some players have argued that this makes the procurement skill less useful than it should be.
